Education in Multinational Southern Kyrgyzstan
Produced a video sharing the Roza Otunbayeva Initiative International Public Foundation’s story about the role of education for a secure society in the multinational Batken region.
Strengthening friendships by learning about other cultures is an important step towards a secure society. This is especially true in the Batken region of south-western Kyrgyzstan, a region inhabited by many nationalities including Kyrgyz, Tajik and Uzbek and one that has experienced violent tension between the diverse groups.
The Roza Otunbayeva Initiative International Public Foundation is engaged in an ongoing effort to teach people in the multinational Batken region to be accepting of people with different cultural backgrounds. The project aims at strengthening friendships among people living in the Batken region, improving access to education for rural children, teaching children to understand different people’s cultures, as well as sharing the importance of protecting the environment and living in harmony with the environment.
